The next and current book we are reading through together is Same Kind Of Different As Me. My mother in law sent me this book several months ago, but I had not picked it up until Friday night!! I could NOT put it down. This book will have such and impact on your life and your testimony. I ENCOURAGE you all to pick up a copy and join us over at BLOOM to discuss it. Don't worry about being behind you will catch up fast.....trust me!
The main thing that struck me out of the first 20 chapters was the example of Deborah........She had a heart to serve and to care for the poor! Numerous times in scripture we are told to care for and love the poor. If you have read my blog before you know I love COMPASSION and what better time than now to sponsor a child! Also, Haiti is crying out for help. My heart breaks as I see the images on t.v. It's unimaginable to me what they are going through. I felt so much guilt as I was grocery shopping last night.....what they would give for a simple slice of bread! A drink of water to some is like finding gold here in America. We really have NO IDEA. Pray about how you can give. Pray about how you can serve those around you. Just a simple act of kindness goes a long way! You don't have to go out of the country to serve the poor we are all surrounded by those in need. One of the most eye opening experiences I have ever had was volunteering for a day at the Dallas Life Foundation. Talk about God breaking my heart for the poor and needy. Oh. Man. He. Did!
How is God wanting to use me/you today?
